Our mission is to implement projects that promote and protect children’s rights, strengthen global partnerships and advocate for human rights in a respectful and effective way, empowering people to achieve self-reliance.
We work wherever there is need, regardless of race, religion or ideology.
We mobilize local volunteers to participate in developing their communities.
We maintain professional accountability and transparency by reporting projects' status.
We promote self-reliance for sustainable development.
We work to ensure children's rights are protected.
We work in cooperation with local partners, who share our community development goals.
In 2015, the United Nations developed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) at its core. The Agenda involves a global initiative to tackle poverty at its root while achieving sustainable development in its three dimensions – economic, social and environmental.
For Good Neighbours Canada, our primary focus is ending child poverty and achieving gender equality, two visions which will underpin a thriving and equitable global society for all. Through our Child Sponsorship program, we aim to support vulnerable children and their families in order for them to achieve self-reliance and independence outside of our support.
With our Better Life for Girls program, we empower young girls through menstrual health education and skills training that will help them become more economically competitive. Because marginalized genders are the most affected by adversity, our clean water and emergency relief programs are catered to focus on women and girls rights. Aside from providing relief assistance, we create safe spaces for women and children to provide them with psychosocial support.
