COVID-19: $23,105.91 raised for food relief!

August 5, 2020

We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to our COVID-19 Food Relief campaign in London, ON!

We have raised - and already distributed - $23,105.91 to three organizations during the worst time of this pandemic.

As soon as quarantine started, Good Neighbors Canada offered immediate support to Meals on Wheels, the London Food Bank and Mission Services with $15,000 from our General Support fund. We knew food would soon become an issue for people in need or those with mobility restrictions.

During the second phase of our initiative, $8,105.91 were raised online to continue to offer support to the same organizations.

This is what we call local love!

Real local impact

Meals on Wheels were able to deliver 17,000 meals to almost 800 seniors, more than 1,500 breakfasts and 88 food bank packages to low-income clients. They also put in well over 30 hours of calls in their wellness check for those who might be in distress.

7,170 families (or almost 19,000 Londoners) have been to the London Food Bank for help. The organization also assists people through 25 other agencies in Ontario.

For Mission Services, $25 is the equivalent to 8 meals. Donations they receive enable meal preparation, the purchase of ingredients, take-out containers and grocery store gift cards.

Thank you

We have had donations ranging from $3 to $500 and it just proves that people in our community are giving and willing to help those in need.

A huge THANK YOU from the Good Neighbors Canada team to everyone who contributed to this campaign!
