A generous donation of 1,200 pairs of underwear
October 13, 2021
Clean underwear is a basic necessity, and yet, many girls and women around the world struggle to have access to it.
The Children are Not Brides campaign in Vietnam approaches reproductive health education and supports girls with items and services that aim to empower them in their decision-making about marriage.
As part of the initiative, Good Neighbors Canada contacted several manufacturers in order to secure an underwear donation for the girls.
We were lucky enough to come across Jinki Min and his wife, Jungmin Choi, here in London, Ontario. Owner of a couple of businesses, including a clothing line in Vietnam, they volunteered to send 1,200 pairs of underwear to Good Neighbors Vietnam.
The team received all boxes in August and as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions were eased, Good Neighbors Vietnam organized a distribution day on September 30 at two different schools. About 300 students from the Tan Bac and the Yen Thanh secondary schools received a kit.
We are grateful for this amazing gesture and we would like to thank Mr. Min and his wife for the donation, which will provide dignity for the girls.
