Emergency Relief after the earthquake in Haiti

The 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti last weekend was followed by Tropical Storm Grace only two days later, which complicated rescue efforts.

So far there are still many people missing and at least 1,941 have died. Nearly 10,000 people were injured, and almost 500,000 were affected somehow.

We are providing antibiotics, water, food, and hygiene, and first aid items. Good Neighbors International aims to provide assistance worth 300,000 US dollars.

Even though it has not been proven that climate change can affect the magnitude of an earthquake, scientists have seen that link in microseismicity.

The bottom line is that we are still trying to get a handle on how exactly all of Earth’s complex systems are interconnected.
