Due to the civil war in Cameroon, many girls have fled Cameroon to neighbouring countries such as Nigeria, Niger, and Chad. The gala was part of a fundraising initiative to support women and girls in refugee camps in the Far North Region of Cameroon by sending dignity kits. In partnership with Global Affairs Canada, GNCA continues its pursuit to empower women by conducting menstrual hygiene education through women and girls’ clubs, training for community health workers, and building boreholes and toilet facilities for the community. Through this program, we will reach 3,500 community members in the rural village of Mehé in Cameroon. We are incredibly grateful to Global Affairs Canada for their support and our partner GN Cameroon for their dedication and commitment to implementing the project. Their hard work is crucial to the success of this project. To learn more about our program on menstrual health and hygiene, visit our website. GNCA wants to congratulate all the nominees and organizations that are dedicating their work to promoting menstrual health, thereby shifting established cultural norms and empowering women.
