A Brief Look at Cameroon

The Republic of Cameroon is a country located in Central Africa at the bottom of the Gulf of Guinea. Cameroon signed and ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child on October 27, 1990, and January 11, 1993, respectively, demonstrating their commitment to creating a favorable environment for children’s development. However, security, economic, and cultural challenges impede the full implementation of children’s rights in Cameroon.

43% of children in Cameroon do not complete primary education;  although school is free, parents often cannot afford the extra costs involved.
