Do you know about the energy-efficient G-saver?
March 9, 2020

“We used to spend 60% of our income on heating before using G-saver. Now we spend only 30%. We can use the rest of the money to buy food and keep the house warm for our grandson. Many friends from other towns are contacting us to ask about the G-saver.”
– Tserenkhand, Mongolia

In the hard winters of Mongolia, poor families have no other choice but to use tires or soft coal to fight extreme temperatures (around -30ºC). Using such materials not only aggravates air pollution but also have a negative impact on health.
That is why Good Neighbors, via the Good Sharing social enterprise, developed the G-saver: an environment-friendly solution that use stoves for domestic heating. In 2020 we are celebrating 10 years of the G-saver factory launch.
Coal combustion used in poor households are responsible for 60% of pollutants in the Mongolian capital. G-Saver is designed to be mounted on the top of stoves to control the air flow, induce better combustion of fuel and retain heat. It critically reduces heating-related air-pollution up to 40% and CO2 emission.
The satisfaction rate of the consumers who used the G-saverturned out to be very high. Good Neighbors will continue to provide pragmatic solutions and assistance to local communities through research, evaluation and technology.
