The Hope Letter Campaign is a global initiative inspiring students across Canada to become globally-aware citizens. Through heartfelt letters and meaningful reflections, participants engaged in an incredible journey of empathy, resilience, and an awareness to international issues.
One of our 2026 partners have already shared their experience, highlighting how running the campaign “… encouraged the children to be introspective and consider their own lives in comparison to Charles’ experience… [while providing] practical examples of things they could do on a smaller scale to make a positive difference in the world. I thought this was a great way to move the discussion from reflection into action.

Charles is a 12-year-old boy living in a small village in Zambia. Since his parents have passed away, he carries the heavy responsibility of working dangerous jobs – like collecting rocks at a copper mine – to support his grandmother and younger sister, Anna. Despite a severe knee injury that threatens his ability to walk, Charles remains determined to protect his family and save enough money to return to school and become a teacher.
Without proper medical care and support, Charles faces a future where his health and dreams are constantly at risk. Your warm words can give him the strength to keep holding onto his bright hopes for tomorrow. With your letters of hope and support, let’s bring hope back to Charles’ life. Join us in sharing letters of hope to him and his family!

To write or draw a message of hope, you can choose to use a special hope letter template by printing the template on paper. Additionally, you are welcome to make your own design if you want to be creative and come up with something completely unique!
Whether you draw, write, or design your own, your message is equally important to Charles and Anna.
Take some time to think about what hope means to you, and then you can either write or draw a special message to Charles and his family!
You can share something that makes you feel happy, or even draw a picture that represents hope.
Let your creativity shine, and remember that your words or drawings can bring a smile to their faces.
Once you have finished writing your letter of hope, you can share it in two different ways!

Deadline for submissions will be at 11:59pm on November 30, 2026. Any submissions received after that will not count towards the Hope Letter competition. Winners will be contacted through the email provided either on the form below or the one listed on of their physical letter. Please ensure that you have filled out the contact information at the bottom of the template to be contacted for contest results.

Announcement of winners will be done on February 2027!
To claim their prize, participants must provide their email address. Good Neighbours Canada will invite the winner to receive their prize and provide them with the option to take a photo of themselves signing the donation cheque.
An esteemed panel of judges will be invited to look through the finalists and determine the winner!
Children all over the world are facing health risk because they lack access to clean water. Your monthly donation will go to children whose stories are just like Charles and Anna. Good Neighbours’ program aims to reduce the number of children living in poverty. Monthly donations will go to addressing the individual needs of the children as well as supporting their families to help them become self-reliant.
