Tentative Deployment Periods

Applicants should indicate their availability for one or both of the following tentative periods:

• Option 1: August 24–September 2, 2026
• Option 2: September 7–16, 2026

The total deployment is expected to be approximately 7-10 days, including international travel and local orientation, with approximately 7–10 days of field activities. Final dates may be adjusted based on visa processing, local authorization, security conditions, and flight availability.

Initial Team Composition

Good Neighbours Canada intends to deploy a minimum of:

• Two physicians
• Two registered nurses

One selected medical professional will be designated as the Medical Team Lead.

Applicants who are not selected for the initial mission may be considered for subsequent medical deployments.

Expected Activities

Activities will be determined in coordination with local health authorities and partners and may include:

• Primary and community-based healthcare
• Assessment and treatment of common acute health conditions
• Support for chronic disease management
• Basic maternal, child, and family health services
• Identification and referral of patients requiring advanced care
• Health education and disease-prevention activities
• Collaboration and knowledge-sharing with local healthcare professionals
• Completion of basic daily patient and activity reports
• Handover of patients requiring follow-up care to local healthcare providers

Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Hold a current Canadian medical or nursing licence in good standing
• Have at least three years of relevant clinical experience
• Have recent experience in family medicine, emergency medicine, primary care, community health, paediatrics, internal medicine, or another relevant field
• Be able to work effectively in a resource-limited and cross-cultural environment
• Be available for the full duration of at least one proposed deployment period
• Hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the expected return date
• Be medically and psychologically fit for deployment
• Be willing to complete required pre-departure training and documentation
• Be able to work collaboratively with local professionals and under the direction of relevant local health authorities

Previous humanitarian, international, disaster-response, or remote-community experience is an asset. Spanish-language ability is also an asset, although local interpretation support is expected to be available.

Deployment Conditions

This is an Expression of Interest and does not constitute confirmation of deployment.

The mission will proceed only after:

• The appropriate Venezuelan visa is issued
• Authorization to provide medical services is obtained from the relevant Venezuelan authorities
• Local operational arrangements are confirmed
• Security and organizational risk assessments are completed
• Appropriate insurance, including emergency medical evacuation coverage, is confirmed
• Travel and funding arrangements are finalized

Applicants should be aware that the Government of Canada currently advises Canadians to avoid all travel to Venezuela. Selected candidates will receive a security briefing and will be required to provide informed consent before deployment.

Information regarding airfare, accommodation, meals, local transportation, insurance coverage, and other deployment-related expenses will be confirmed with shortlisted applicants before they make a final commitment.
