Good Neighbours Canada at the First K-EXPO in North America

On August 9 and 10, 2025, Good Neighbours Canada (GNCA) was invited to participate in K-EXPO Canada held in Meridian Hall in Toronto. Hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this was the  first-ever K-EXPO held in North America.

The K-EXPO celebrated the Korean Wave (Hallyu) by showcasing Korean culture and lifestyle through a variety of experiences.  Thousands of visitors explored exhibits from 65 participating firms, including 34 content companies and 27 businesses in related industries such as gaming, animation, technology, broadcasting, beauty, food, and cultural products. The event also featured a K-Cooking show with celebrity chefs Raymon Kim and Ryu Soo Young, as well as export consultations for overseas buyers interested in K-content and related goods.

Raising Awareness to Good Neighbours Canada

We were honoured to receive a complimentary booth, which provided us with the perfect platform to introduce GNCA’s work to new audiences. Our team highlighted GNCA’s work worldwide, and those that have previously heard of Good Neighbours in Korea were pleasantly surprised to learn our shared values represented in Canada.

The event was also a good opportunity for GNCA to raise funds. Visitors to our booth were able to purchase our popular Bruce the Moose and pop sockets, with all proceeds going towards our projects. Thanks to their generous support, we raised a total of $382.75.

The event also brought valuable media exposure, with Korea Times Canada interviewing us and providing the opportunity to share GNCA’s mission and impact with local audiences. KOCCA executives also visited our booth, presenting GNCA with an honorarium and a donation towards our work.

Sharing the Experience with PATH

As part of the weekend’s celebrations, K-EXPO hosted a K-POP concert on August 10, featuring performances by BamBam, CRAVITY, and FIFTY FIFTY. The concert attracted a sold-out crowd within minutes of ticket sales opening.

GNCA was grateful to receive 30 concert tickets, which we offered to our partners at PATH (Parents Association Living Toward Hope) – a parent-led organization supporting children with developmental disabilities and their families. This special opportunity allowed PATH families to enjoy the concert together and explore the K-EXPO beforehand.

“Thank you so much. My whole family is very grateful for the opportunity to have such a precious experience.”

Our Thanks

We are deeply thankful to the K-EXPO organizers for providing us with this platform to increase awareness of our work and for generously donating concert tickets for PATH families. We thank our team members Elizabeth Ann Francisco, Sasiaro Nyam, Yona Lim, Grace Howes, and Nuhjat Tahiya for engaging with attendees and raising awareness about our work. We are grateful to the K-EXPO organizers for giving us the platform to connect with the community and look forward to future collaborations.
