Good Neighbours Canada (GNCA) wants to congratulate its partners Good Neighbors Cameroon (GN) for receiving the Menstrual Hygiene Champion Award by the International Menstrual Hygiene Coalition (IMHC) in Yaounde, Cameroon.
This award honours the work of individuals and organizations championing menstrual hygiene, awareness, education and empowerment. Awarding was held on May 10th during the Redvocate Awards, a charity gala organized by the IMHC. It recognizes the inspiring individuals who are advocating for menstrual hygiene and creating positive change in the local communities! Representing GN Cameroon in the awarding is Nyaluma Elise, Assistant Project Manager and Awoe Victoria, Finance Assistant.
“This wouldn't have been possible without Good Neighbours Canada and Global Affairs Canada’s support and collaboration. Please, accept our sincerest gratitude. This is a milestone for us and this is just the beginning.”
Nyaluma Elise
The gala was part of a fundraising initiative to support refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Cameroon and Nigeria with dignity kits and pad banks for better menstrual hygiene management in displaced settings.
In partnership with Global Affairs Canada, GNCA continues its pursuit to empower women by conducting menstrual hygiene education through women and girls’ clubs, training for community health workers, and building boreholes and toilet facilities for the community. Through this program, we will reach 3,500 community members in the rural village of Mehé in Cameroon.
We are incredibly grateful to Global Affairs Canada for their support and our partner GN Cameroon for their dedication and commitment to implementing the project. Their hard work is crucial to the success of this project. To learn more about our program on menstrual health and hygiene, visit our website.
GNCA wants to congratulate all the nominees and organizations that are dedicating their work to promoting menstrual health, thereby shifting established cultural norms and empowering women.
