Good Neighbors Canada strengthens relationships with Canadian international cooperation sector

On Tuesday, December 19th, the Executive Director of Good Neighbours Canada, Ms Hyang Cho, was formally invited to attend a meet-and-greet afternoon with key members of the Canadian International Cooperation sector. Hyang attended as a representative both of Good Neighbours Canada, and of the Ontario Council for International Cooperation, where she currently serves as a Board member.
The afternoon facilitated several valuable conversations with some key insights, including the ongoing commitment of Global Affairs Canada to prioritize funding initiatives relating to girls’ education, sexual and reproductive health, and climate change finance. As leading advocates for the health and wellbeing of women and girls, and an agency with a growing number of climate resiliency programs, this is great news for Good Neighbours Canada and our international partners.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity for our Executive Director to meet the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, who serves as the Minister of International Development for Canada. She was able to share the work and key priorities of Good Neighbours Canada with key decision-makers for international development in our country, as well as to deepen our working relationships with other international organizations operating in Canada.
We thank our hosts for the afternoon; Global Affairs Canada, the Ontario Council for International Cooperation and United College at the University of Waterloo for this inspiring and fruitful opportunity. We look forward to supporting the gender equality, health and climate initiatives of our Good Neighbours partners throughout 2024.
