At Upper Canada College’s annual Association Day (A-Day) on September 26, student leadership took center stage. UCC’s Human Rights Club set up and managed a dedicated booth throughout the event, introducing Good Neighbours Canada’s international development and relief work to students, parents, staff, and alumni across the wider UCC community.
A-Day is one of the school’s most vibrant traditions, bringing the community together for its first football game of the new school year while transforming UCC’s main driveway into a lively showcase of school clubs and activities. Tents flanked the fields, creating a central hub for visitors to learn about various student-led initiatives.
Throughout the day, four dedicated student volunteers staffed the Human Rights Club booth to engage visitors and raise awareness. The team shared detailed information about GNCA’s global programs, including emergency relief efforts in Nepal and Venezuela, clean water initiatives in Zambia, and Child Sponsorship projects in the Dominican Republic and Cameroon.
In addition to sharing information, the students highlighted Goods4Causes, GNCA’s social enterprise that supports artisans and local communities worldwide. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the mission behind Goods4Causes and purchase handcrafted items directly at the booth. By the end of A-Day, the Human Rights Club raised $335 through a combination of Goods4Causes sales and donations.
The UCC Human Rights Club has long been an active partner with Good Neighbours Canada, consistently participating in our annual Hope Letter Campaign. Their presence at A-Day offered yet another powerful example of youth taking action to make a global impact.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Human Rights Club members, and the entire UCC community for their continued partnership, enthusiasm, and dedication to supporting communities worldwide!
